About this trip

WHEN:  March 11 at 7:15 am to March 12 at 5:05 pm.
HOW MUCH:  $500-$650. We’ll book your airfare for you for $390— but we’ll leave everything else up to you! You’ll need to book a place to stay for the night of the 11th, cover your transportation costs in and around DC, and pay for most of your meals. If you want to go cheap, the National 4-H Youth Conference Center offers simple but comfortable accommodations starting at $39/person. Otherwise, we’ve reserved a block of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn for $209/night-- just book by Feb 11 and ask for the Canopy group rate. We also encourage you to explore Airbnb for lots of options in between. No matter what, we don't want cost to keep you from coming, so if you aren't sure you can afford it, talk to us! We'd love to help you fundraise :)
WHAT: Advocacy training, hill visits with our congressional delegation on the 11th and 12th, and maybe some museum visits if we have time.
WHO:  Anyone! We’d love to get a large and varied group together: pastors, employers, college students, families with kids (8 and up). For our part, we’ll be bringing along some staff as well as some of our refugee clients, who are eager to share their stories on Capitol Hill.
WHY: We are currently witnessing the dismantling of the refugee resettlement program. Since 2017 we have seen a dramatic drop in refugee arrivals to the U.S. We want to make sure our elected officials know that Northwest Arkansas is FOR refugee resettlement and we want to update them on our families and community’s heart for welcoming refugees home.
