Six years ago, I discovered a love for serving others internationally.  I traveled to Cambodia in 2012, and Kenya in 2014, to spread the Word and love of Jesus and fell especially in love with the country and people of Africa.  Now, four months into my new career as a Speech Language Pathologist, I have the opportunity to travel to Uganda with Hope Speaks, a wonderful organization that combines the foundation of Jesus' love and the profession of speech pathology.  On this trip I will have the ability to not only show Christ's love to others, but to also provide necessary speech services to people in need.  Individuals in Uganda do not have access to speech therapy, as it is considered almost nonexistent.  I am so incredibly honored that I have been selected and placed on a team to travel and serve others this summer, in a way that allows me to use my professional skill set to bless and help others. I know God's hand will be in every moment of this trip, and I am so excited to see what He does in our time over there.

Hope Speaks is a wonderful ministry to help children with disabilities in Kampala, Uganda. 1 in 7 children are living with a disability. Their main ministry is providing Speech Therapy to hundreds of these children. They teach them to swallow, chew, understand and express language, and so much more. Many of the volunteers are Speech Language Pathology grad students, as well as Speech Therapy professionals. This will help them reach many more children with these services.

Hope Speaks has gone beyond that and also includes hosting other groups who help with projects, food for families, children's day camps, and going and serving in the slums.
