Chosen. Adopted. Loved.

The short story:

The Champs are adopting a child…. from South Korea…. and we need help!

The long story:

Hello! We’re the Champs. We are passionate about becoming more like Jesus, helping others, food, shaping our children, the Kansas City Royals and engaging fully in the relationships He has put in our lives (passions listed in no particular order :-)). Though we have “real” jobs (firefighter and nurse), we know one of our highest callings is raising our 3 beautiful children (8, 6 and 3) to know how deeply God cares for them and how to respond to him.

Amidst the controlled chaos that is our life, we recently started feeling an undeniable ache in our hearts to invite another little one into our family through adoption. Adoption isn’t a new idea for us, in fact, since we were first married we have talked about it as Joel’s sister was adopted.  We also have personal experience with adoption both having been graciously adopted into God’s family, through Christ, who loves us relentlessly. We know God cares deeply for orphans and is the ultimate father and we hope to get to model his unconditional love to the little one He places in our family.

Psalm 10:14  “But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.”

Unfortunately, it isn’t easy OR cheap to go about adopting. The process involves phone calls, forms, websites, forms, home visits, more forms, medical examinations and did I mention forms?  In addition, we are needing approximately $40,000 to bring our little one home. We are cutting our family’s budget, picking up extra shifts and fundraising like crazy, but there is still quite a gap in funds. We are confident that it is God who has placed this burden on our hearts and we know it can only happen through His supernatural provision.

I Thess. 5:24 “For the God who calls you is faithful, and He can be trusted to make it so.”

We have been so blessed by the outpouring of encouragement from friends, family and the amazing community God has given us to walk through life with and we are so thankful for each of you. As such, would you please consider partnering with us in this  both in prayer and or financially?  Every donation we receive is important in answering the call to care for the orphans! Also, we would appreciate your willingness to share our story with others who may want to participate.
