I have exciting news to share! I have begun to take steps to adopt a child from Samoa.
Why would I look to Samoa? Even though the country has a small population (approx. 200,000), there aren't as many families domestically to meet the critical need. In Samoa there are no orphanages, and the children reside at the Samoa Victim Support Group shelters. These shelters care for abandoned or abused children, many of whom are looking for a family.
My faith is integral in my life, and this year I feel as though God is calling me to care for children living as orphans. Though I've always had a pull to be a mother, this year God has granted the resources and desire to provide both a permanent family and nurturing home to a child in need.
I am excited to start moving forward on this journey. As part of the adoption process, I am kicking off a crowdfunding campaign to assist with expenses. Adoption-related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. That cost may surprise you; it certainly surprised me! As a single mother looking to adopt, I have set an initial goal of $20,000 to help ease the financial burden that appears overwhelming at this stage in the process.
Adoption is a long and often costly journey. However, I hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community I hope to build around my child as he/she grows up.
Thanks and Love!
