WE HAVE A REFERRAL FOR A 6 YEAR OLD!!

Over the course of our marriage adoption has always been a lingering thought. 8 years ago we started actively pursuing adoption, but through various circumstances the timing wasn't right and we ended up pregnant with our 4th instead.  From our perspective we thought the Lord was saying adoption wasn't for us. At the beginning of 2016 adoption surfaced again and through a variety of scenarios we realized it was still a part of God's plan for us. (It is a great story...ask us if you'd like the details) Just like God has opened the door for all of us to be invited into His family, we feel as though the door has finally been opened for us to adopt internationally from Haiti.  In the fall of 2018 we opened up to a sibling ground, BUT THE LORD DECIDED JUST ONE WAS HIS PLAN!!  

One of the many areas we are going to trust the Lord with concerning this adoption is finances. The cost of international adoption is very intimidating with overall costs ranging between $30,000-$40,000, for one child.  Often times people (myself included in the past) are confused about why it costs so much and where all the money goes. Here is a break down of costs we will incur:

APPLICATION:  $550 DONE

TO START HOME STUDY:  $4,800 DONE
$3,000 - Home Study process (a process of interviewing our family and writing a report to get a perspective of our family values/background to present to the country)  
$1,800 - Global Services Fee (adoption expenses from our agency to get everything started, adoption education for us)

TO FINISH HOME STUDY:  $5,050 DONE
$5,050 - Adoption Agency Program Fee I (adoption expenses from our agency to help prepare the dossier, admin costs, required training/education for us concerning Haugue Convention and our agency requirements, USCIS document preparation, and operational costs)

SUBMITTING DOSSIER:  $4,600 DONE

$3,500 - Country Fee 1 (Dossier Translation, Post Adoption Report Translation, Social Services and Program Development in the country)

$350 - shipping/wiring fee to submit the dossier

$750 - translation

ACCEPTING A REFERRAL
$3,450 - Adoption Agency Program Fee II (preparation of referral and immigration paperwork, ongoing communication between country and us, travel preparation, assistance with naturalization process, operational costs and administrative overhead)

$8,200 - Country Fee II (Haiti social services application fee, adoption paperwork for child, care of child while in country)

$350 Referral Translation fee

$1,000 Post Adoption Report 

$775 Post Adoption Report translation

IBSER FEE
$2,500 - Country Fee III Due when case exists Haiti social services

POST PLACEMENT FEES
$450 - Post placement/post adoption Report Writing

TRAVEL FEES covers the cost for two adults on two required trips
$6,000-$9,500 Travel Fees (airfare, meals, lodging)

THIRD PARTY FEES due at miscellaneous times
$3,500 - (filing for orphan petition, fingerprints, visa's, authentication of dossier)
