Hi, we're Ron and Alison Ott, and we're adopting a sibling group of four brothers from Colombia!A little back story:
A few years ago, I became ill with Lyme disease and Alison nearly died from sepsis. It gave us time to reflect, and we discovered we felt we'd been resigned to lives of dull mediocrity. But what if we could we live our convictions in a more substantial way? This simple idea dominated our conversations. We both sensed God guiding us to adopt. So we dove in head first.
How much do we need?
For fundraising, this is the FINAL PUSH! We are so close to reaching our overall goal and being fully funded! Before we can travel to bring our boys home, we need to raise the remaining balance.
When do you need it?
We’ve been told to tentatively plan on traveling at the end of August or in early September. Only a few weeks away, really!
Why is it so expensive?
In short, adoption is a complicated process which involves a lot of time and legal paperwork to ensure the process doesn't involve fraud and serves in the best interest of the adopted child. Prospective adoptive families must be screened, educated, and equipped for life after adoption. There are court costs, translation fees, immigration fees, passport and visa fees, in-country facilitation fees, medical evaluations, etc. Even small steps in the process can cost hundreds of dollars. International adoption also requires travel.
We're so excited to add to our family, and we hope that you'll help us make this a reality! You'll earn our undying gratitude in the process. Thank you so much for being a part of our adoption adventure. God bless!
