Billsam Barrack was born on June 27th, 2011. He joined CGA grade one in January, 2019. His three other siblings also joined CGA in January 2019. He lives with both his parents in a one room rental house that is made of iron sheet with cemented floor. He is the second of the five children. His mother is expecting a sixth child in early 2019. His father is a fisherman and is rarely at home. His mother keeps the home. They have no electricity or running water. They use paraffin for lighting and lake water for cleaning and treat it for drinking. They mainly use charcoal for cooking and sometimes firewood. His mother says it is a challenge to get good clothes for all her children and even sometimes they donâÂÂt get enough to eat. With two meals at school every day for both Billsam and his other three siblings that have joined CGA, it will be a great relief to his parents in terms of food and education. 2019 Update: It is five months since Billsam and his other siblings named Bilha Sandi and Fabrigan Owire of nursery class and Gravin Lazarus of grade two joined CGA. Billsam has settled in class and has been making friends. His teacher says that he is not as reserved as he was when he joined CGA. Billsam appears happy when walking home with his friends. Another baby boy has been born in his family and so there are six siblings in total. Life at home has changed ever since Billsam and his siblings joined CGA. They now have enough to eat. His father does not drink or fight with his mother much as he used to. This is because the OVC office at CGA reported him to the Beach leader where he worked as a fisherman. The mother is so grateful to both the Cochran family, who is her neighbor, and CGA. They have been a great support to her and her children. 2022 Update: This is Billsam's fourth year at CGA, and he's currently 11 years old. He's a little bit quite, but is quite playful. His family moved to a more spacious single room tin house in the same neighborehood in 2021.
