MILLICENT AWUOR was born March 15th; 2004. She joined CGA’s 4th grade class in January, 2014 from another school. She is the first born child born of 3 siblings. Her younger brother has also joined CGA in the pre-primary class in January, 2014. Millicent’s father has died so the mother supports the family by drying fish and selling at the fishing center. They live on their ancestral land in a semi-permanent house about half an hour walk to school. The house is made up of mud walls and floors and has a tin roof. They have very little in the way of household furnishings. They have neither running water nor electricity. They use paraffin for lighting and use the lake water for washing and other house chores. Millicent sleeps on a mat without a mosquito net. Millicent is a tall girl a wonderful smile and we look forward to having her at CGA. 2017 Update: Millicent's mother has had another baby and now they are four siblings. 2018 Update: Millicent joined a boarding secondary school about 15 kms away from her home.
