Naika Joseph
17 years old Female Haiti
Naika was born on September 5, 2006 in a town called Mi Balay, located in the countryside of Croix-Des-Bouquets, Haiti. Naika has one older brother, two younger brothers, and one younger sister, Lousemie, who lives with her at Chanje Lakay. Despite the fact that both her parents are still alive, Naika, and her sister Lousemie, are considered economic orphans. Due to financial hardship, her parents are physically unable to provide for her basic needs or afforded her education. Because of these circumstances, her cousin Laconte felt it was necessary to bring her to Chanje Lakay.
Laconte is a friend and a partner of our ministry in Haiti and new of our intentions in opening a shelter. Thankfully, when our doors opened in 2013, Naika had a new place to call home. Initially, Naika come alone and was one of the first children to arrive at Chanje Lakay. But recently, her sister has moved in as well! Today, Naika is happy and healthy. Although she is shy, she is as sweet as can be!
