Hope Remembered Staff Support- Tym & Agnes

About this Fundraiser

We are so blessed and excited to be serving with Hope Remembered in Guinea-Bissau. We were both born to missionary parents who eventually served and lived in Guinea Bissau.  We both lived for several years as children in Guinea Bissau and that is where we met.  After returning to Brazil (our home country) for college and further training, we were married and now have a one year old son, Peter.  We returned to Guinea BIssau to live full time in Quebo and work among the Fula people in 2017. We are grateful to be back "home" and are currently living on property with Tym's parents and have land to build a house in Quebo Lord willing in 2018.

Our desire is to see Guineans have access to education, good healthcare, and opportunities to learn skills that will help them provide for their families. As well as reaching their physical needs, we hope to share the gospel with them in ways they can understand.

We will be living in Quebo, Guinea-Bissau, surrounded mostly by Fula people. The Fula people are a nomadic Muslim group that is present in many different West-African countries. According to Joshua Project, there are about 350,000 Fulas in Guinea-Bissau and only 0.2% are evangelical Christians.

Aside from working alongside partnerships and our other projects, Tym will focus on training the locals in sustainable agriculture using the Farming God’s Way method with Travis. There is more information on the Sustainable Agriculture page under Our Projects.

While supporting Tym, caring for Peter, and creating a home on the field, Agnes will also be involved in our partner schools. Agnes will work with the pre-k and k5 classes to work towards bilingual literacy for the students. She and Tym are both fluent in Kriol and Portuguese. She hopes to learn Fula and befriend the women of Quebo.

We are currently raising funds to purchase a motorcycle ($1,000) so Tym can travel to remote villages during the rainy season, to construct our home ($17,000), and to meet our monthly living expenses and needs.

We invite you to partner with us as we begin this journey. The two main ways that you can do that are:

PRAY- First, you can commit to pray for us. It is so encouraging when things get tough on the field to know that there is an army of people praying for us. We are living in an area with much spiritual warfare. We want to have good relationships with the people and to have a healthy marriage and spiritual life. God has answered prayers in amazing ways to lead us to this point and we are excited to see how He works in the future. If you are not already receiving our updates and would like to receive them please email us at tymschafer@gmail.com and ask us to add you to the list. There are also lots of prayer ideas on our website at http://www.hoperemembered.org/pray/

•  GIVE- Second, you can partner with us through financial support. You can give a one-time gift or make a monthly commitment. Your financial gift is tax-deductible

Thank you for helping us make a difference among the unreached people groups of Guinea BIssau!
