Big News! Our family is adopting again, and this time internationally!
Why? Well, in short, a little girl with the sweetest smile needs a home and the love of a family and we just happen to have those.
The facts are grim and sound more like fiction than reality. If she isn't scooped up quickly, she will end up institutionalized in a crib for the rest of her short life, alone and starving without access to the medical care she desperately needs. If she doesn't escape, the hope in her eyes will fade and she will die alone in that crib. God told us to go get her and we need your help to get there ❤️
We are The Wegerts. We have 8 amazing, beautiful kids. Some are biological, some adopted. Some are from hard places. Joseph and I (Heather) have been married for 10 years and have felt God's calling on our lives to adopt since before we were even together. We got married young, had two perfect babies, and then jumped right into adoption. Our adoptions so far have been from foster care right here in Arizona.
Coming into Summer 2019, we are tired. With a one year old and an 8 month old (and 6 other kids, of course), sleep is elusive. We've been talking about being done (like DONE done) but God had other plans (and a great sense of humor).
I was scrolling through Facebook and a friend posted a video of the sweetest little girl. I watched this video and in the midst of a hopeless situation, living in an orphanage, hope lit up her eyes. She can't walk or talk and is listed as having cerebral palsy, epilepsy and some other special needs.
For the next several days, all I could do was cry (I'm not usually a crier). "God, send her a family!" I begged. "She will THRIVE in a family," I said. It's all I could think about.
And then, He did. He sent her a family: a big, loud, crazy family.
He sent us.
If I can be raw right now, I was terrified. Behaviors from adopted kids can be hard (HARD!). We've been through a lot. But God doesn't call us to a spirit of fear. There are so so many hurting children who need someone to push past the fear and go get them. Kids who need a last name, a family. This is legitimately life or death for these deserving kids. (Is God moving you to adopt? Message me!)
International adoption is ridiculously expensive but we trust God. He has always provided.
Our goal is to raise $48,000 in 7 months. It's a lot in very little time, I know, but we have to get this tiny girl out of there and get her the medical care she needs before she's transferred to an institution (we're praying about bringing a second child home with special needs as well). We actually need the first $6,000 now to start the process and the rest shortly after as adopting from Ukraine is time-sensitive. If we don't raise the funds quickly enough, we will have to start the process all over again.
Ukraine is also unique in that we can't be officially matched with our girl until we travel to get her. This means I can share her photo and video with you soon, but not quite yet! Stay tuned! I know you're going to fall in love with her just as much as we have.
Thank you for checking us out and thank you so much for donating ❤️. You will never find a better way to spend your money than investing in the life of a child. You are saving her life and for that we can't thank you enough.
Here are some waiting special needs children from Ukraine (There are also children without special needs available. None of these are our girl):
