I have some exciting news! I am feeling so blessed to announce that I was selected to go to Hangzhou, China in August of 2018, for an educational and clinical mission service trip with some of my classmates and faculty members!
As of right now, the entire country of China only has 1,100 speech language pathologists. This means that their knowledge on treating patients in our area of specialty is very limited. My program at Loma Linda University has developed a collaborative clinical and educational partnership with Zhejiang University Medical School Children’s Hospital (ZUCH) in Hangzhou, China as well as two new partnerships at nearby children’s hospitals!
This summer, I will be working on the NICU/Pediatric Swallowing team! My trip will focus on providing therapy to NICU babies and kiddos as well as giving training workshops to doctors, nurses, rehabilitation therapists, teachers and parents in the areas of assessment and treatment of pediatric swallowing disorders!
I am beyond grateful for this amazing opportunity to not only expand my own knowledge, but to share it as well.
The ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.
I am seeking your support and prayers for this mission trip. If you are able to assist me with this trip, I have provided the link below. I am so excited to be able to treat, educate, and share my passion with others around the world.
