The time is slowly approaching!!
In just a few months I will be embarking on my first mission trip with my school Loma Linda University! Mission trips have always been something I've longed to do, but never have had the opportunity. Thankfully, I have been given the chance to to go to Peru and participate in missionary work as a nursing student where we will conduct health fairs in the community, have summer camp for the children, and overall provide healthcare to communities that are unable to get the care they need. Unfortunately, I am struggling with the costs that the trip requires. I was able to receive a grant through the school of nursing, however it did not cover all the costs. I understand that times are hard for everyone right now, but if you are able to and willing to donate towards my mission trip, it would mean the world to me. No donation is too small and every donation is appreciated! If you wish to donate but do not want to input it on the site, please contact me or any of my family members! (Richard Escalante, Steve Rodriguez, Arlene Rodriguez, Jessica Cortes)
With love,
Ashley ❤️
Below is more information on the mission trip! :)
ADRA Peru has invited SIMS to bring an interdisciplinary team of students and faculty to the Chuquicahuana Training Center & Camp, a facility located in the Department of Cuzco. ADRA utilizes the training center as a home base for a variety of community outreach projects in communities surrounding the center. Additionally, ADRA hosts several week-long camps emphasizing health themes throughout the year for children, adolescents, and adults in the community. The goal of the camps for children and young people is to expose them to new ways of thinking regarding their physical and mental health. In addition to these service activities with ADRA, SIMS is partnering with the local Seventh-day Adventist church to offer community health education workshops and health fairs.
As participants on this trip, students from all the health professions will have an opportunity to contribute their knowledge and skills to benefit the local community. ADRA and SIMS are working to confirm the final activity details, which will include:
