Austin is in his 3rd year at Mbita High School where he is a boarding student. He is 19 years old and joined CGA’s preprimary class in 2003. His mother died when he was only 2.5 years. He is cared for by his two older (adult) siblings.

Austin Ooko is in his 3rd year at Mbita High School. Even though the school is very near his home and CGA both, but he will still be boarding. He was born on the 4th of June 1997. He joined CGA’s preprimary class in 2003. He had previously been in a nursery class at another school. His mother died and left him at a very tender age of 2 ½. He and his two older brothers were left in the custody of their stepmother who is not very caring. Austin and his brothers live by themselves in a one room rented house. They live about 3 miles away from school surrounded by shops. They are close to the lake where they wash, bathe and draw water before they go to school. His stepmother checks on them once in a while, but his father works very hard to see that food is sent to them. Austin is a good student. He loves his father, brothers and step siblings. Austin’s younger brother Zadock is his 2nd year of high school (in 2016).

Career Goal: Lawyer

What helps me succeed in HS: is working very hard.

Hobbies: telling stories, reading books, and playing

Favorite Scripture: Genesis 1:1 because it makes me remember God should be first in everything we do.

Favorite person in Bible: is Abraham because he had faith to the extent of offering his own son.

If I could be an animal I’d be: a lion because other animals can’t disturb him.

One wild thing I’d like to do in life: is taking care of dead people in the mortuary.
