Boblit Family Update! Posted about ago

Hello Everyone,

I know it is has been awhile since our last update! We have had a few changes here as we have welcomed our baby girl into the world! I know, it was a huge surprise to us too!  We found out back in May that I was pregnant. The news came to us about a week before I competed in the Mid Atlantic CrossFit Regionals.  This same weekend, we were contacted by the adoption agency notifying us that we were officially placed on the waiting list to be matched with our children in Haiti! (Insert wide-eyed emoji here!) As we began to spread the news we noticed a pattern in many people’s reactions.  Those who did not yet have children were very excited and wish us luck, as we became the future parents of 3 children!  Those seasoned parents who already had multiple children would laugh as we shared with them our exciting news! Fast-forward 9 months and the first piece of our little family has arrived!

Rylan Adayla Boblit was born on January 15, 2019 at 5:46 am, weighing 6 lbs 5 oz and 20.5 inches.  We could not be more blessed with this incredible gift, and now we are more excited than ever to meet our children in Haiti!

Many people since then have asked if we are still planning to adopt from Haiti and the answer is yes! We are still on the waiting list to be matched with our children!  Although the process is long, we know that God has created the perfect timeline and we continue to trust and pray while we wait for it to unfold! Until then, we would love for you to continue to join us in this journey as we receive new information along with way.

Just recently, Haiti has been through some turmoil as the government has increased gas prices and broken promises made to their people. The people have responded in fear not knowing if they will be able to provide for themselves and their families.  As a direct result, many riots have broken out and most of the country has been on complete shut down.  This past week the rioting has ceased and the Haitian social services has been able to reopen their doors.

Since then we had a conference call with the Haitian representative and he shared with us a lot of devastating statistics along with some positive news.  We have listed those statistics below.  We were told that the government is actively working with the crèches (orphanages) so that they can begin to match children with their families much quicker.  If things continue to run smoothly within their country, they anticipate many matches to happen this summer! Although we do not know when we will be matched, we cannot wait to meet our sweet children in Haiti!

Did you know that in Haiti there are roughly 200,000 children in crèches?  80% of the people are unemployed.  54% of the people live without clean water. 1 in 10 children die before the age of 4, and of the few children that survive over 300,000 will become child slaves.  48% of the population is illiterate, 49% of the population is malnourished, and only 50% of children attend school.

We ask that each of you continue to pray for this country and our children who are living there.  As we continue to receive more information we will update you through our blog! Thank you to each of you who have read and who have continued to follow along on our journey!
