Adopted for Life

In August, we started reading the book Adopted for Life by Russell Moore. We started reading the first couple chapters and were getting so excited that we decided we didn't want to read the book alone. So, we reached out to several people at church who have talked about adopting to start a book club together this fall. We had our first meeting last week and it was such a special time! Each time we meet (4 times total) we are having another couple or individual from our church who has an adoption experience coming for a Q&A portion of the evening. We are so excited to learn together and encourage one another in the gospel and in this adoption process.

Mustard Seed

Yesterday, October 2nd, we had an initial phone call with Mustard Seed Adoption Consultants. We talked to Lizzy, their perspective client coordinator, to get basic information about what they do. For those of you who are not aware, today in the United States many adoption agencies are using adoption consultants to coordinate contact between birth parents and prospective adoptive parents. Mustard Seed works with 38+ agencies for adoption placement. We found Mustard Seed through our church family. Last year our friends, Mike & Cassandra, adopted through Mustard Seed and had a very positive experience!

Yesterday evening we dove right in and started our application for Mustard Seed. We still need to get this notarized, but that should be able to happen this week. Along with this application comes a $3000.00 fee for our contract with Mustard Seed. Please let us know if you are willing and able to help us cover this cost. We are dependent upon your generosity to adopt. Thank you for considering giving.

Then we can have access to the expertise of Mustard Seed. This will be especially helpful for our next step in the adoption process, which is completing our home study (basically a thorough assessment of us to see if we meet criteria for being adoptive parents). After our home study is done (this typically takes about 2 months) Mustard Seed will begin showing us cases and we can choose to have our family profile shown to those cases.
