I looked in my email tonight and got the urgent request to submit details for my VISA for the Cuba Trip!
I've never had to get a visa before. This one apparently takes two months to complete. They need to file the information this week with the Cuban government so I needed to complete the information sheet quickly!
Thankfully, unlike some other visas I've heard about, this one was fairly simple.
There are no simple "tourist" visas for Cuba though. I will be applying for a religious visa. So will all the other members of our team!
What does obtaining a religious visa involve? Well here's some information about it that I've found on line:
All members and staff of a U.S. religious organization may travel to Cuba on a general license as authorized
by section 515.566 (a) of the Office of Foreign Assets Control’s (OFAC) Cuba Assets Control Regulations.
The
general license authorizes members and staff of a U.S. religious organization to travel to Cuba for a full-time
program of religious activities.
Acceptable activities include:
*Attendance at religious services and activities that contribute to the development of a Cuban counterpart’s
religious or institutional development such as:
*Ministerial training, education, or licensing;
*Religious school development;
*Youth outreach;
*Training in or the conducting of marriage seminars;
*Construction of places of worship or other facilities for full-time use by a Cuban counterpart;
*Production and distribution of religious materials;
*Assistance in holding religious services;
*Religious preaching or teaching;
*Training or assistance in church administration.
As trainers of future trainers, our role fits nicely within the definition of acceptable activities!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND OTHER ASSISTANCE!
Prayer Points: - Please PRAY this visa process goes smoothly. It can take several months! - Please continue to pray the funds will come in as we prepare to go! Most of the funds still need to be raised. - THANK God with me for the resources that have come in!
