In late July we received an unexpected and yet much anticipated phone call, with our child referral. That conversation was humbling and really, really surprising for a handful of details that we won’t share right now. We also assumed we would not be matched in the middle of COVID. Two weeks after receiving our referral we sent off our Letter of Acceptance to the Colombian government, and we are now officially one step closer to meeting...
...our three month old baby girl!
Our adoption journey continues onwards as we buy bows, send care packages, dust off the crib, and prepare to welcome this sweet babe into our arms. Next step: [more] piles of paperwork, [more] waiting on government approval, weekly Skype dates, then traveling to and quarantining in Colombia during a global pandemic.
We are SO GRATEFUL and SO IN LOVE with this beautiful human that we have yet to meet.
As you can imagine, there are one million unknowns on the horizon. I’d be lying if I said we weren’t overwhelmed by the current reality of high COVID cases, closed borders, cancelled international flights, a court that’s not currently in session, unreliable mail service, furloughed US immigrations workers and so many other big and small details that will inevitably impact our ability to smoothly and safely move forward in finalizing this adoption. Yet we’re so thankful to finally have a sweet face, name and story to keep us enthusiastically racing towards our finish line.
Thanks for loving us along the way 🙏✨✌️
