Let me start by expressing my deep gratitude for your generosity and support of this project. April 14th is coming quickly, and we have much to do--but we wouldn't have been able to get this far or feel this confident without your kindness. Thank you.

That said, I wanted to update you on how the event is shaping up.

First and most importantly, we have secured our vendor for food! And they are awesome! We will be working with Waco's own Guess Family Barbecue, a terrific new company who are very excited about the opportunity. (To be clear, we decided to partner with an existing restaurant or food truck so we wouldn't have to work through food safety licenses and permits--as we don't know how many people will come.)

Second, we've also secured all our tables and chairs...and a very large tent. And we're working hard on our invitation letters and notecards. Our plan is to go through the jail, block by block, on March 7th and 8th, to tell inmates who we are and what we're doing. We'll then ask them to invite their families on letters that we will provide. 

And finally, we are now starting the process of reaching out to local social service agencies to invite them to be present with us. We've already secured an excellent partnership with Prison Fellowship, who will be connecting families with services in the various prisons their loved one's might be going to and collecting names for their 'Angel Tree' project. Which is great. 

We have a lot of work ahead of us--including finishing up our fundraising. But we are very excited about the opportunity ahead and eager to make it a smashing success. 

For that reason, I want to ask for your prayer. Some challenging events in my personal life the past three months have meant we are off to a slower start with the details than I had hoped. I would be very grateful if the next six weeks you would remember us as we work toward honoring both our community's families and law enforcement.
