The Ferrier Village Preschool is a $120,000 project that is already halfway funded and under construction!! Help us reach our goal of $60,000 to f...
In 2013, we rescued 32 kids in partnership with local Haitian authorities. The stories of heartbreak, evil, and pain run deep. Seven of these kids were reunited with their family, while the other 25 now permanently live in Ferrier Village. These kids were trafficked, abused, neglected and malnourished. Surely, they were on the edge of life and with little hope.
Ferrier Village was a response to a massive problem. Trafficking In Person Report states that Haiti is a “special case,” which means trafficking is happening at a high level. Ferrier is a small town on the border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, just a few miles away from one of the most prolific trafficking routes in Haiti.
We had always envisioned two phases in Ferrier. PHASE 1 is now fully operational. All five homes are filled with kids who were rescued and are now on the pathway to healing. We have a clean water project installed, a community center, a playground and a generator for electricity. A massive wall protects the campus. The Haitian government recommended that to protect the children and staff from vindictive traffickers.
The majority of PHASE 1 was funded through our Garage Sale for Orphans initiative. Your excess literally helped rescue 32 kids in 2013.
Now, it is time for PHASE 2 — time to rescue more children who need a place to call home, a community to love them, and a foundation for life. Part of the PHASE 2 experience is a fully functioning preschool, not only for the kids in Ferrier, but also for the entire village. Good preschools are rare in Haiti and this is a problem. You see, moms usually have to work just to provide the basic necessities. Yet, many of these moms have nowhere to drop off their kids. Sometimes they leave them home alone, especially if they cannot leave them with family or neighbors. This is not ideal, but sometimes moms have to choose safety or access to food.
So how do we become a blessing and help solve this problem?
What if we had a preschool for our current kids and for those kids who will be rescued in 2014? We know that a child’s development is vital before they turn five. Imagine Haitian kids coming to school to be educated and loved on by the local teachers. Imagine them eating good nutritious food and being able to laugh and play in a safe environment.
Let’s build a preschool by cleaning out our closets, garages, and attics. Let’s turn our excess into hope, let’s inspire a new generation of Haitians kids to be loved, fed and educated - and let’s do it this summer.
So, here’s what we are asking you to do: We need 100 people to say “YES, I will host a Garage Sale Party THIS spring/summer. “ Families, churches, businesses, and small groups can come together, throw a party and donate the proceeds of that garage sale to Help One Preschool project.
You can donate cash if you want. But, not one penny has to come out of your current budget to help bring hope and love to so many kids.
Come be a part of this story, a story of love, hope and redemption, a story of strangers rallying together to do good and make a difference in the lives of Haitian kids.
And let’s do it to bring glory to God and transformation for Haiti.
