We are adopting!
We are so excited for what the Lord is doing and can't wait to see how it all turns out. Since we were dating we've known adoption was going to be a part of our story. Turns out that story is starting now. God has always had a unique way of demonstrating His calling on our life and this was no different. At the beginning of a global pandemic while serving as volunteer missionaries, God says: "Now's the time to start". We think He just likes to show off ;) As much as we know God is in control, we also know that the Church is called to care for the widows and the orphans. So our obedience is going to be demonstrated in a big action. Adopting isn't something we're taking on casually but with lots a prayer we are certain it is the next step for us.
We'd love to have you partner with us in this adoption in three ways:
1) Praying - we are 100% certain this adoption will not work if we do not bathe it in prayer. The work of the Church is done mostly when we are on our knees and so we ask that you would commit to praying for us, the child(ren), the finances, the paperwork, and all the other workings of an international adoption on a weekly basis. If we have 100 people commit to 20 minutes of intentional prayer weekly then we would have over 30 hours of prayer covering this giant act of trust.
2) Giving - As many of you know, we are volunteer missionaries and not new to fundraising but this is something different. We know without a shadow of the doubt that the Church should concern herself with caring for orphans but to ask people to put money behind it is very intimidating. Currently our adoption is estimated at $35,000 USD but we are anticipating some additional costs for documents, flights, etc. and planning to fundraise $40,000 USD (and applying for a whole lot of grants to make that number smaller). Our annual salary is much less than that so we know we have to put this in the hands of God. We're asking for 150 people to give $20/monthly towards this massive goal. When we break it down it doesn't seem as overwhelming but we also know that we are asking for your financial support during some of the hardest financial times of recent history. My biggest hope is that you would just be obedient to the Lord. If that means $5/month - great; if that means being a fervent prayer partner - great. We want you to be obedient because we know the Lord will bless you in that more than He would if you just ignored Him.
3) Researching - This one may seem a little odd however we'd love to know that you are intrigued by adoption or caring for others. One way to get interested is to find out real information. Take some time to really understand adoption or homelessness or the Serian refugee crisis - whatever peaks your interest; would you take intentional time to learn more about it. Do so with an open heart to the Holy Spirit prompting you to take action. We'd love to help you take your next step of obedience in whatever direction that means.
We are really thankful that you've even taken the time to visit this page and pray the Lord's blessing on you as you seek after Him. Those of you that are choosing to partner with us in any of the three ways, thank you - we appreciate you more than you'll ever know! Again, we're excited where this journey will lead and will hopefully be updating this site often! God bless!
