The support to this cause has been outstanding. Thanks to all of you who have donated. I am humbled by my generous friends and family. With 6 weeks to go I am certain that some of you that have been sitting on the fence can help me go well above my goal.
I have recovered from Horsetooth 1/2 and am well on my way to logging the miles that I need to get under my belt. Unusual aches and pains cause me to wonder is my body on the verge of injury? Am I too old for this? Well so far by the grace of God I seem be able to sustain the long miles without anything serious.
Last Saturday, Bailey and I went 15 miles. She is a 50 lb, Shar Pei. That breed doesn't seem to have the build for going long distances. You would think that she would slow down a little but she was still straining at the leash toward prairie dogs and rabbits at mile 13. It took her alot longer than normal to recover but a few hours later she was in the back yard chasing squirrels. I think she would follow me to the end of the earth, probably more in hopes of finding slow squirrels than just following me. I think Deb would kill me if I took her any further than that.
I noticed on FB that Heartline has the roof up on the new Women's center. That project seems to be going at record pace. The fund's raised will help consolidate their facilities into one location.
A group from our church will be going to help at Heartline a few weeks after Grandma's. I wish I could be there with them. Things I will miss by not going: the rice and beans, fresh mangos, porridge for breakfast, Haitian Spaghetti, Haitian Fried Chicken, Haitian coffee, the incredibly hot slaw, the goats at the OK, having a beer at the neighborhood "convenience store", seeing the children in uniforms going to school, watching the Livesay children play on the trampoline, Extremely moving and motivating devotions by John, the chaotic traffic with "Tap Taps" commuting through the dusty streets and finally and most of all the amazing Heartline staff.
God Bless
Curt
