In Kenya, not only are individuals with disabilities often rejected by society, but their families are as well. Because of this, it is often hard for parents to find work and provide for their family.
99 Balloons is partnered with a great program in Kenya which employs mothers who have children with disabilities, while their children receive therapy services and special education. The mothers are able to work full-time and receive 2 meals a day plus full medical coverage.
Currently, the women in this program make jewelry, which is then sold in a shop in Kenya as well as various shops in the US and online. The profit from these sales then goes back to pay the mothers salaries and provides medical intervention for them as well.
In order to expand their income opportunities and provide a new skill for these mothers, we ask you to help us provide them with a new industrial sewing machine so that they can begin making and selling purses and bags. This would provide a new and amazing opportunity for mothers to continue earning an income and providing for their family!
