For example, we can them to share their story and we can respond with, "that sounds hard". A follow-up question would be, "how did that make you feel?" This approach keeps it about them and avoids us trying to give any advice or shift the focus back to us by telling a story of our own. The focus remains on them and these questions are safe enough to prevent ask them to share more than they might like. We will have counselors there from the partnering ministry in the event some is triggered or needs/wants more support. 

E3 Partners is an exceptional organization, they really take time to care for those we are serving and how to bring support that is appropriate too. Thank you for your commitment to pray.
