Dear friends and family,
I am excited that this coming April I will be headed to El Mirador Dominican Republic with a team of 12 from my church on my very first mission trip. Our church, Harbor of Hope has partnered with a community in the Dominican Republic and an organization there called Food for the Hungry for the next 10 years. The goal of the relationship is to help them gain access to clean water and sanitation, education, safe shelter, improved agricultural activities , increased access to healthcare, vocational training and a strengthened local church.
A large part of that partnership is that a team from Harbor of Hope will travel to El Mirador once a year for us to learn from them about their way of life and for us to help them with projects that will help them move forward meeting the goals i mentioned above. I love that we will be coming alongside them as learners and friends to encourage the projects they are working towards!
I am writing to you to ask for your support. As you can imagine this is quite a big deal for all of us but especially for me because as I mentioned earlier this is my very first mission trip. First of all I especially need your prayers. I would love to have you partner with our team in praying for us. Another way you can partner with me and be a part of this team is by giving financially. The trip will cost about $2000. This will include travel expenses, food and lodging and money towards the project that Food for the Hungry will have prepared for us when we arrive. Thank you so much for being a part of my first mission trip. I look forward to sharing with you all when I return. The trip will be from April 15-21, 2018, and my fundraising deadline is February 1, 2018.
