Did you know that 1 in 10 children never receive a single vaccination in their lifetime?
This means that 1 in 10 children worldwide are vulnerable to diseases that have been almost eliminated in most countries.
Despite there being a huge decrease in infant mortality rate over the last 20 years, from 80 to 59 deaths per thousand live births, Haiti still has the highest infant mortality rate in the Caribbean. According to the Copenhagen Consensus, fewer than half of all children receive every immunization dose. Around two child deaths in ten are caused by diseases that could be prevented by vaccines, such as diphtheria, pertussis, measles and neonatal tetanus.
Thanks to MSPP and UNICEF, Cap Rouge is now able to offer vaccinations to our community.
At our hospital in Cap Rouge, vaccines are now being administered every Thursday. This is a huge advancement for our community.
