Hello friends and family!
It’s been a couple days since I got back from my Guatemala Mission Trip, but I can say with marked certainty, this was the most memorable trip of my life.
We were staying at a health clinic in Petèn, Guatemala, about one hour into deep rural Mayan jungle. It was gorgeous beyond words, but it was clear even at a glance, there was a lot of need in the community. We had crazy experiences, including visiting a girls' orphanage for rape victims, seeing a patient with a hole in their nasal pallet caused by a nematode parasite, and performing dental surgery on a faint little girl using three translators for communication.
This last week we saw hundreds of patients from the Mayan community, providing free dental and medical care, and inviting them to our church service at the end of the week where dozens of them chose to give their lives to Christ.
At the end, I know we made a tremendous impact for the people there. I wish I could've stayed longer, seen a few more patients, loved a little more. But in reality, I know it was a good mission. I hope to visit back, and pray without ceasing to be entrusted with more service opportunities soon, both near and far, in the days and years to come.
