12/7/19 We received DOSSIER APPROVAL FROM COSTA RICA!!
We were officially approved in October to adopt a sibling group of 3 ages 2-8 from Costa Rica! As soon as children within that description become available, they will send us their profile and it will be 2-3 months before we will travel to pick them up! The only thing we have left to do is keep fundraising as we have a ways to go to meet our goal. We are learning a lot about patience in this process and trusting everything will happen at the right time since we really have no control over the timing of anything at this point. Anyone who feels called to contribute in any way is greatly appreciated. We definitely can't do this without your prayers and support, words of wisdom, and encouragement. I feel very grateful to have people who care about us and can share this adventure with us.♡

6/19/20 UPDATE: Home Study Complete!!
  We have completed our home study and are now waiting on immigration approval which should take about two months. Once approved, we can send in our Dossier (a giant packet of papers containing basically everything about us) to Costa Rica so they can give us approval to adopt from their country. We have to raise $9,000.00 to send in with our Dossier. This covers the first part of the attorney fee, the translation fee, and some of the agency fees. We hope to be able to raise this by the end of July so we can go ahead and submit our Dossier. Once our Dossier is sent to Costa Rica, it will be at least three months before it is translated and approved, then we will be ready to wait to be matched with our kids! We are already praying for them and trusting God to bring us the right kids at the right time. Thank you to everyone who is praying for us and contributing to us both financially and with advice and getting our story out there. You are much appreciated! 

5/20/19 We have BIG news!

We are adopting a child!

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $25,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.

We will keep everyone updated as we move forward in the process and find out more specific details.

A little bit about us.....

  We are Michael and Bridgette Featherston.  We met in Sunday school when we were about 12 years old. We started dating in youth group when we were about 16 and have now been married for 11 years. We enjoy playing softball, going to the beach, and going to hear our favorite bands. We are excited to share our hobbies and interests with our children.
  We have always talked about one day adopting and after years of trying to get pregnant with no success, we decided it was time to pursue growing our family through adoption. Some life changing experiences we have had like mission trips to Belize and our 10 year anniversary trip to Costa Rica have influenced us to consider international adoption.
After looking into all the different country options, we became discouraged because it didn't look like there was a good fit for us. Nothing open in Central America which is where our hearts were, so we started down the route of the domestic foster-to-adopt program. We didn't feel completely comfortable with this but knew we were supposed to be doing something so we kept at it. We went through all the training, classes, and some of the paperwork, then when we started our home study we got halfway
through the first meeting with the social worker and finally realized it was not where we were supposed to be.
  We took a step back to look at our options again and the very next day we found out about the Costa Rica program. There was only one agency in the U.S. that worked with Costa Rica which made it so hard to find. It sounded too good to be true [but not too good to be God, I was reminded of], and everything fell into place and we felt completely at peace about this new situation.
  We have been approved for a sibling group of up to three, ages 0-10. There are so many sibling groups in Costa Rica and there is always a chance they will get split up if no one is willing to take them all so we are excited to be able to have the opportunity to add multiple children to our family at one time!
