Diapers and baby wipes. The need is so basic, yet so desperate. This month we are partnering with The Village in Sandusky, Ohio in an effort to supply some much needed necessities for their Baby Boxes.
The Village was formed in response to the high infant mortality rates in Erie County, Ohio. Erie County has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the state of Ohio and we are learning that co-sleeping is playing a major role in a large number of these infant deaths. The Village is working to address this problem by partnering with our local hospital, and health department to see that all babies have a safe space to sleep.
Introducing the Baby Box...this is no ordinary box! This box saves lives. If you remove the lid you will find a small mattress and fitted sheet that is just the right size for a baby. The Village is working to ensure that these are available to anyone who needs a safe place for their baby to sleep.
At Love Runners, we are helping to ensure that those boxes are filled with some of the most basic needs for both mom and baby to help them get started off on the right path.
We believe that all life has value, and that we have a role to play in protecting and advocating for struggling families. Our Goal is to raise $500 by October 15, 2016 to assist in doing this.
