Greetings!
First, we would like to send a heartfelt
THANK YOU to each of you who has made a donation to
our #EmpowerYouthAgainstHate campaign so far. We are a long way to the finish line but together we know that each action and each day brings us closer.
By continuing to share, post, and spread the word about
Music in Common and this fundraiser to friends, family, and colleagues, your contribution is multiplied.
While the campaign is based online, many things are happening on the ground, as well... Here are just a few examples of the many ways you can directly take action to empower youth against hate.
- The other week, we received a check from our local church from the proceeds of a tag sale they took upon themselves to organize to raise money for Music in Common. As our neighbors, they saw the important and critically needed work we are doing and wanted to help.
- In Syracuse, NY, a group of musicians are organizing a benefit concert for Music in Common after learning about the devastating effect the revocation of the $159,000 federal grant will have on our programs and the youth we serve.
- And just last week after making a generous donation, one of our loyal supporters sent out an appeal to friends to do the same in honor of his birthday, which resulted in several donations right here on our Pure Charity page.
- On Thursday August 31, Music in Common will hold an #EmpowerYouthAgainstHate event at The Mahaiwe Theatre in Great Barrington, MA, where we will screen 2 short films followed by a discussion with Todd Mack, Music in Common Founder and Director.
I leave you with a short clip of a first-hand account the powerful impact of Music in Common's programs... The teens who have experienced Music in Common and many others are counting on us to make it happen!
With Gratitude ~ Lynnette and the MIC Team
