We have some very exciting news, and Brian and I wanted to inform you of our recent endeavor. After long months of prayer we have found ourselves being led by God to adopt a child. Brian and I began preparing our lives for a baby almost 3 years ago. We felt the time was right and began trying. After a long while of nothing happening we decided to increase our chances by trying medicine, procedures, and fertility treatments. After years of this not happening our diagnosis from the doctor was “unexplained infertility”. There was absolutely nothing wrong with either one of us it just wasn’t happening. We decided we had reached our limit of trying. We began to face God on our knees praying about what path He would lead us down. Adoption has always been a desire of ours we just didn’t know that at this time of our life it was exactly what God was leading us to. We felt very strongly about this for many reasons. The main reason is that we knew our faith in Christ was based on the very idea of adoption and without it we would not have eternal life. For this reason we wanted to be able to show this type of unconditional love to a child and be able to be the physical evidence of Christ. Second, we knew we could love any precious baby that was placed in our hands and we both desired to be parents so badly that it seemed like a great path for us. And lastly, once we began praying it seemed that adoption kept coming into our path. We would have people randomly coming to talk to us about it, we heard a preacher speak on it, and at work it so spontaneously began being talked about too. We knew this was no coincidence and that God was preparing us for this journey.
We have chosen to go through St. Elizabeth’s which is a local organization in New Albany, IN. The average adoption takes about a year to a year and half there. This organization is great because everything you pay to adopt there is placed back in local ministries in New Albany. They have a maternity home where birth mothers can live if they have nothing, a transition home that helps mothers learn life skills to be able to care for their child, and many more. We really loved the idea of our money being used to further God’s kingdom.
