We went to Haiti for the first time in May, 2010 and have returned several times a year ever since. Haiti is no longer a project or a “mission trip,” Haiti is family to us. We would trust our children with the leaders we partner with!

So welcome to the family...You’re going to love spending time with our leaders and friends.

Before you go, let me share some things that I think will be valuable.

1. Pray: I know we hear it ALL THE TIME, but trust me on this, you are about to enter into deep spiritual warfare. Haiti is a place of beauty and hope, yet it’s also a dark place filled with tremendous brokenness, just like America! The difference, to be frank, is how outwardly evident it is. Extreme poverty is always difficult. You can’t hide the brokenness.

Pray for:
- God’s will to be done, no matter what.
- Pray for our leaders who live and work in Haiti. They are: Pastor Gaetan, Pastor Jean Alix and Pastor St-Cyr.
- Pray for God’s protection & presence to surround, lead and guide us.
- Pray for courage. We will see suffering and pain, we will also see joy and hope. Trust me on this: You will walk away from Haiti in-love with the people, and broken-hearted for the country.

2. Humility: Help One Now’s stance on partnership is simple; we serve, they lead. We do everything in our power to empower the local Haitian leaders to lead well. Our job and hope is to “push” them forward, encourage them, serve them, love them and pray for them. Many times Americans think they can “fix” Haiti. I wish it was that easy. Many times Haitians will actually fix Americans...that is the beauty of global partnerships and relationships.

We come with deep humility, and by doing that we honor the local Haitian leaders.

3. Be Flexible: Our trips are very detailed, however we always pray that God messes up our plans. :-) Why? Because our ultimate hope is that we will all leave Haiti knowing that the Holy Spirit led our trip. So we plan well and yet we ask that God would lead and we would follow.

4. Advocate: If you don’t follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, you should! :-) We want you to take our story and share it with the world. So please let your friends, small groups, co-workers and social-media networks know about the trip and why you’re going:
