The girls came up with the name for this fundraiser. It came from one of their very favorite activities – listening to the inspiring and entertaining audio stories at Sparkle Stories (http://sparklestories.com/). Their favorite series are those about Martin and Sylvia – brother (7) and sister (5) who have all sorts of adventures. You see, at first, doing this service project was a struggle. Doing work for which you don't "get paid" is tough! But one morning, we were talking about why we were doing this. We had so much help to get Madeline the surgery she needed to be able to live and we wanted to do the same thing for another family. Nora said, "Hey! That's just like Martin and Sylvia's 'Paying it Forward'!" So we re-listened to the episode and the girls were filled with renewed inspiration! Every time the girls feel tired, one of them reminds them, "we're paying it forward like Martin and Sylvia!" Today, after I thanked David and Lisabeth at Sparkle Stories for creating stories that inspire, they surprised us by generously donating to our drive! So thankful for those wonderful people who help make our parenting job easier and who work to inspire a generation where an attitude of kindness, love and service are the norm.
