Thousands of refugees have fled their homelands because of political oppression, religious discrimination, ethnic warfare, even genocide.

Many have resettled in Dallas, trying to begin their new lives in a country and culture they don’t understand.  The Melting Pot engages refugees living in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood.  Through a partnership with a local apartment complex, a former leasing office has been renovated into a café and classroom.  This venue has provided a great opportunity for refugees and Americans to develop relationships and establish community together. During weekend classes, students learn how to be successful in American culture while volunteers encourage and empower students to find solutions to everyday problems.  Our need is to provide the curriculum materials for these refugees during the course of their 22-week program.
