It's simple. How do you give once that will empower for a lifetime? Start something that is sustainable and reproducible! Through ForgottenSong's poultry project model, we believe that an entire country can be changed through smart, well-planned initiatives that organically reproduce without constant fundraising and financial upkeep. Chickens do just that. Through existing community associations in Burundi and a proven poultry project in Uganda (see video), we will be able to sustainably impact over 84,000 people through a well organized and accountable reproductive model. How it works? The chickens & eggs serve as an immediate and sustainable source of nutrition to combat malnutrition and hunger, while the poultry farm as a small business serves as a sustainable source of income for the entire community, each family having its own invested stake in the farm. In Burundi, our intricate network of communities through national non-profit FVS-Amade is the means and mechanics of reproduction. Once one community receives a farm, they give to another community which then gives back to them and forward to a new farm. It's a pay-it-forward system and is set up to foster exponential multiplication so that 1200 communities will be not only fed, but have their own new small business.
