The Problem:
As you are reading this, about 27 million people are trapped in modern day slavery. Half of them are children. The things that are happening everyday in this holocaust we call Human Trafficking are hard to imagine. Little children as young as 3 years old being sold for sex, baby factories, cages and brothels. Every 30 seconds another child is captured...The problem is overwhelming, but don't let that distract you from the fact that you can help ONE! That's where we come in...
Our Story:
Josie Carignan is a wife and mother of 3 wonderful children. Rescue Her was born out of the desire of her heart to do something to help the helpless in the darkest places; victims of human trafficking. For a long time I wasn’t sure what to do, and I kept being overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem. “What could I possibly do that would make a difference?” One day that changed. I had one of those life changing moments with God. I felt him speak to my heart saying: “My light is greater than even this darkness. And it is ok that you can’t help everybody, but you CAN rescue one... and then another, and another.” And out of that moment Rescue Her was born.Rescue Her is non-profit charity that exists to fight human trafficking. We want to take a stand against injustice, be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves, and help rescue those that are held captive. We want to raise awareness about human trafficking, fight for justice, and be a place that allows those that want to take action to do so.
WHAT WE DO
Our Vision at Rescue Her is to raise awareness, to raise funds and to rescue, restore & prevent!
We are currently funding projects that provide prevention and aftercare for victims of trafficking in Cambodia and India, prevention outreach in the DFW area, supporting micro-enterprise to support survivors of human trafficking, and starting small businesses to employ those most at risk of being trafficked in Moldova. Rescue Her is also working to open a safe-home for underage girls rescued from sex trafficking in Chennai, India.
