We can finally share more details, as today we received our pre-approval from the China Center for Children's Welfare and Adoption (CCCWA). The pre-approval is their confirmation that our Letter of Intent has been received and agreement to process our dossier for the child that we've been matched with.
Since we've been pre-approved, we can now share our story and pictures. After talking and praying about it for many months, we finally decided to take the plunge and submitted our application to an adoption agency. Based on conversations with others, and the research that we'd done, we assumed that we would then wait 6-9 months to be matched to a child, giving us time to start our dossier, and complete our home study. Well, God had different plans. Our application was approved on July 27th, and then on August 1st, our agency called with a file they wanted us to consider. We were very shocked that it was so quick, but it was also perfect! On August 7th, we called them back and said YES! So much for having time to leisurely complete our home-study. We are now in sprint mode to try to get everything done for our dossier, which includes our home study report, and a mountain of paperwork before our February deadline. We assumed that this whole process would take 2 years, but apparently it's going to be more like 9-12 months.
Enough about us, I know you all want to hear about Xu Li. The orphanage thinks that our little guy turned 2 in July of this year. They aren't really sure, but they estimated he was 12 days old at his intake visit. We are so excited to meet him!
