About this Fundraiser

UPDATE 10/21/2018

Dear friends and family,

Three weeks ago, as I walked out of a hospital in Texas with empty arms, I remembered the words from the hymn When I Survey the Wondrous Cross by Isaac Watts, “Never did such love and sorrow meet”. We poured out our resources and prayers in hopes of bringing home a beautiful baby girl. That day, Jesus reminded us that really he has the first claim on her life. His good plan is for that little girl to grow up with her first mama. So we continue to ask Jesus to speak his love into their lives, even when we experience the real sorrow of separation.

In Texas we knew God’s goodness as we were hugged by family, fed good food, and received space to grieve. We pushed our empty stroller through the airport and explained to the airline personnel that we weren’t traveling home with a baby. A friend picked us up from the airport on Thursday and sent us home with a bag of groceries.

After the failed match in Texas, we made it to the top of the “Stork Drop List.” These are situations where a birth mother decides to follow an adoption plan after having given birth at the hospital. Adoption agencies, advertise their services in hospitals so that when these situations take place, adoptive families can be chosen. Thursday morning, Eddie found an e-mail on our inbox letting us know that our adoption journey would continue in the state of Nevada.

We invite you to rejoice with us! Our daughter was born on Tuesday, October 9th, she weighed 6 lb 14oz and was 18 inches long. The Lord brought our family of three together for the first time in Las Vegas on Monday October 15th. It is hard to describe this experience, but we wanted to attempt to put into words how good the Lord is.

We are adjusting to being parents; there are challenges and grace inside each day. We'll be here in Nevada for at least two weeks while paperwork gets processed. Your prayers are appreciated.

Much Love,

Molly and Eddie

Financial UPDATE 10/21/2018

We have seen God's provision through your financial support, our jobs allowing us to have a savings account (plus both Eddie and I get paid bonding leave) and the generous hospitality/financial support of our family.

How we're doing financially? The short answer is that there is money in the account to finalize the adoption and to continue to provide for our day-to-day living expenses while still leaving a modest amount in savings. We are keeping this crowdfunding page open so that if you feel led you can help us continue to build our savings back up.

We could not have done this without your support.

Thank you!

Molly and Eddie

UPDATE 10/04/2018

Hello friends and family,

Sorry for the late update but here is where we are on our journey. On August 15 we said yes to a potential birth mom who was having a baby girl due October 10. A couple of days later the Texas agency informed us that birth mom liked our profile too. Thanks to your generous donations we were able to pay the agency fees due that week and we made plans to travel in October. Well guys, it is October and we are in Texas. The baby is beautiful and we got to hold her for a bit. Unfortunately for us, her birth mom decided to parent. This has been tough but we will be okay. We are surrounded by family here. Our adoption story is not over and we see this experience as “not yet.”

UPDATE 08/03/2018

Dear Friends and Family,

We have set up a nursery, and bought our child’s first outfit! Paperwork is complete, complete, and we are actively waiting to be matched with a child. We may be matched any day, and could have a baby as early as the end of August!!!

Thank you all for your on-going prayer and financial support. We are continuing to fundraise. At this point we plan to use the money we had saved up to buy a house plus the money that has already been donated to us. Depending on the match we end up with, this means we have about 75%-100% of the funds we will need. We apologize for the vagueness of the financial piece, but the cost varies depending on each individual case.

We appreciate prayer for wisdom and discernment at this time as we are required to make decisions almost daily about potential matches. We also pray for the health of our child and their birth family. We also pray that we would be able to be united as a married couple as we are experiencing high levels of anxiety around the prospect of becoming parents (anybody know of a Standard Operating Procedure for raising children?!)

Much love,

Molly and Eddie

UPDATE 06/25/2018

Dear Friends and Family,

We are overwhelmed by your more than generous support! We feel very loved. We anticipate becoming “actively waiting” prospective adoptive parents within the next couple of weeks!

This past weekend, June 23, with lots of help from friends and family, we were able to pull off a very successful silent auction fundraiser. We had over 100 donated auction items, over 50 guests, and immeasurable prayer support. Overall from this event we raised $5,929.66!!

We have adjusted the overall fundraising target to reflect the amount we have raised via the auction and through the mail. The generosity of our community continues to amaze us. We are grateful beyond words.

Thank you!!

Molly and Eddie

Dear Friends and Family,

We are looking forward to growing our family through adoption! Our home study and adoption profile are ready. We will work with an adoption consulting agency that will let us know when potential matches are found. The timeline is still undefined, but we strive to be present in our lives now with hope.

How can you support us? We appreciate your prayers.

  • Pray that our discouragement would be replaced by hope and gratitude.
  • Pray that the Lord would continue to prepare us to be parents.
  • Pray that this entire process would be a reflection of his boundless love to the people around us.

We started a crowdfunding campaign to invite you to help us financially in this process. Adoption related costs can easily total $40,000 or more. These costs include legal fees, medical fees, costs associated with paying all the agencies involved and a lot of travel expenses.

Thank you all so much for your encouragement and support. It takes a village!

Much love,

- Molly and Eddie
