Tim and I are excited to announce that we are preliminarily matched with the best kiddos in the world!
They are a sibling set of three, ages 7 (girl), 11 (girl), and 13 (boy). We cannot share photos or names yet, but they like to dance, scooter, eat pizza, play soccer, and draw and color.
We are 100 percent smitten with them!
What Does Preliminarily Matched Mean?
It just means that not all of our paperwork is in yet, so assuming nothing goes wrong with our dossier, we will be officially matched within the next couple months.
We are just about ready to submit our dossier to our agency for their approval and then translation and submission to the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice. When that is approved, we have our official match and they'll schedule our first trip to go meet our kids!
Then it will take four to six months for court and immigration processes, and then we get to go pick them up and bring them home!
In the meantime, we are applying for grants and will possibly be doing more fundraising events (as time permits), because although we have saved/raised about $20,000, remaining fees and travel expenses will likely total between $20,000 and $30,000 more.
We'll announce fundraising events here and on our website (
www.shawfamilyadoption.wordpress.com), where you can also track our total funding meter (not all funding shows on this AdoptTogether page).
We are deeply grateful for the contributions you make here as well! All donations made through AdoptTogether are tax-deductible.
Wanna Know a Secret?
In Bulgaria, if any of the kids are ten or older, they have to consent to the adoption...which means that we wrote them a letter to describe ourselves, show photos, and ask if they wanted to join our family, and they said yes!
Thank you for sharing this journey with us!
