We recently received fantastic news—our family’s adoption case goes to court this Thursday, August 6! That means that in less than a week, we will officially be parents!!!

We won’t have them home yet, unfortunately, as there are still some steps to take after that, and those can take anywhere from two weeks to several months in normal years, and in covid, it’s totally unpredictable. But still, we are overjoyed!

This also means that we will be making our final agency fee very soon, likely on Friday. At that point, we will draw everything out of our AdoptTogether fundraiser for that final agency fee and close the account—those donations are only allowed to be used on agency fees. We are $2,101 away from having that final fee fully funded, and any donations toward that free up our savings to go toward our trip to bring the children home (estimated at $7,000). If you were hoping to send some money in, now is the time.  We were really hoping to do some more movie night and bingo fundraisers this summer, but that obviously has not been possible. We miss you all so much, though! Maybe we can do a special movie screening or bingo party post-covid for everyone who donates this summer.

I feel the need to acknowledge that there are many hard things happening in the world and closer to home in people’s personal and work lives too. It feels strange to make a celebratory announcement amidst all that hardship. We are here for you. We love you all and miss you. Please take care and stay in touch.
