After friends of ours who have had a heart for fostering/adopting teen kids found Downeyside and started the process with them, we decided to learn more about Downeyside.  As stated on their website, Downey Side is the only national adoption agency exclusively devoted to recruiting families for youth 7 to 17 years old who need permanent families.   Downey Side’s philosophy is rooted in the conviction that every child has the right to a permanent family. It is their purpose to work in partnership with the government as a licensed adoption agency to place America’s waiting children who otherwise would remain homeless. They are dedicated to family life for all children and strongly believe that a healthy permanent relationship is the best prevention against homelessness.

We believe that their mission lines up with our hearts.  We want to help with children that are in the foster care system and need that forever home.  We met with Dawn and Janet on Thursday and signed up to work with them.  Now begins the pile of paperwork and the classes.  Then it will be time for the homestudy and we will continue the process.  Looking forward to the journey has placed before us.  We will keep you updated on our progress.
