We have always been open to the idea of adopting. We just thought it would come later and would look a certain way - that is, keeping our biological children&'s natural birth order. In Spring 2013, some dear friends shared about an opportunity to host an orphan from Ukraine and our hearts were stirred. Later that day, we were shown a picture of the children to be hosted. Our eyes were drawn instantly to one particular child, a 12 (now 13) year old girl. Now wait a minute. This is not what we had planned, but it was so clear what we were supposed to do! We agreed to host this young lady for one month in our home. From the first day on, our children (5yrs, 3yrs and 1yr old) were completely smitten with her and the feeling was mutual. The month spent with our dear girl flew by and we wanted so badly to tell her of our hopes and plans to give her a forever home with us. She begged us to fly back with her to be her Papa and Mama. Within two days of her departure, we began our adoption paperwork. The process has sped along so quickly that the financial deadlines are more than we can meet alone.
