About this trip
The Dominican Republic (DR) is often called the “Jewel of the Caribbean”, sharing the island of Hispaniola with Haiti on the West. Known for its many beaches and resorts, it draws many tourists every year.
Despite growing efforts to fight trafficking in the Dominican Republic, it remains to be a significant problem in the country. More than 40% of Dominicans live at risk of falling into poverty due to economic or climate-related issues. (World Bank, 2023) In partnership with local churches and national government, One More Child has helped construct a community that includes more than 94 single-family homes, a police substation, a community transformation center and a church plant. These facilities and infrastructure offer stability to a rural area that suffers from low reading proficiency and responsive paternal support (according to UNICEF).
ON YOUR MISSION TRIP YOU MAY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:- Share the Gospel with children through Bible stories, crafts, and games
- Provide a sports camp or clinic
- Serve hot meals to hungry children
- Pack and distribute food baskets to struggling families
- Provide training for parents, such as parenting, health, and financial
- Help provide medical care through a mobile clinic or a local clinic, or hospital
- Visit homes to share the gospel and pray with families
- Tour the historical capital city of Santo Domingo where Christopher Columbus “discovered America” and discover the beautiful country and culture of the Dominican Republic!
