June Hoopfest Spokane, WA
Overview: Stephen and Karis Ward felt led of the Lord to go to Spokane, Washington and start a new church, in a metropolitan area of over 650,000 people, where few evangelicals are reaching 18-40 year olds. One pastor said, it is not that the people are hostile to the gospel; it is that they are just indifferent. This tells us if they hear the gospel in a way they can understand, they will respond to Jesus through the Holy Spirit. In 4 years the Pinnacle Church Planting Network is in their second church plant: Pinnacle and The Rock! Visit www.pinnaclechurch.com to get a better view of the vision God has given the Wards.
Hoopfest is the biggest 3-on-3 street basketball tournament on the planet! That means over 7,000 teams, 3,000 volunteers, 250,000 players and fans, 456 courts spanning 42 downtown city blocks, and that’s just on day one! Beyond basketball, though, Hoopfest is an outdoor festival chock full of shopping, food, interactive entertainment, and every year brings something new. If possible, the team could also put together a team or teams to play in the tournament.
