Impact Africa Endeavors to motivate, train and equip the body of Christ while facilitating outreach opportunities that deeply impact participants and the nations for the Lord
In spite of the many challenging circumstances, everyday we have the opportunity to see lives drastically changed as they encounter the love and hope found in God alone!
Impact Africa is practically and tangibly making a massive impact through a variety of capacities within our three main branches of the ministry and we invite you to partner with us. We believe God has given us effective strategies in order to help turn the tide on these horrific issues and make a massive impact in the lives of as many people as possible.
Building on a history of consistency and good success from the past 8 years, our goal is to further expand our touch points in Southern Africa. We will do this through the expansion of current projects and launching of new projects within are three main areas of impact:
History
Impact Africa was launched in 2003 by Rich and Michelle Franzen with a vision infused with more than 30 years of combined missions experience. Both graduates of Oral Roberts University, Rich and Michelle mobilized thousands of teenagers and leaders on short-term mission adventures with Teen Mania Ministries prior to starting Impact Africa.
It was while ministering on these short-term mission trips, that their hearts were endeared to the African people and a yearning emerged to make an impact on this continent. With 28 million people throughout Africa suffering from AIDS and 44% of its population under the age of 14, Rich and Michelle found themselves devoted to making a difference in the lives of as many people as possible. The dream to be an agent of change for those facing the harsh realities that plague Africa became a reality.
Today they reside with their three children in South Africa and spend their days finding ways to bring Hope to the hopeless. They have successfully launched two Impact Kids Preschool and Community Care Centers where they are educating hundreds of children and adults. Their plans are to launch these sites in informal settlements throughout Southern Africa. They also have a thriving year-long missionary experience internship program and host hundreds of short-term missionaries international missionaries every year.
These settlements, referred to as squatter camps, where more than 10 million South Africans take up residence span the periphery of South Africa's large cities. Impoverished dwellings made from scrap plywood, corrugated metal and sheets of plastic often do not have proper sanitation, electricity, or telephone services. It is in these areas were desperation overwhelms its residents causing them to grasp at life with little to no hope. Unfortunately it breeds the issues of AIDS, poverty, crime, substance and sexual abuse. Fortunately it is in these most desperate areas where people are open and looking for something that leads to hope and ultimately to a better life. In a country noted as a "Christian nation" lays deep pockets of people who will not hear the Word of God because their surroundings are too daunting for many to endure. It is these areas where our heart beats the strongest… for the poverty stricken, the hurting, the most desperate, yes even if it means treading into communities where the conditions are deplorable! For how will they hear if no one is sent?
