The Access Project applies business solutions to health problems with a focus on maternal and child health outcomes. Unlike most public health organizations that focus solely on clinical acumen for improved health outcomes, the Access Project delivers a package of integrated management and infrastructure services to increase health service coverage and improve health outcomes.
In our management work, the Access Project offers hands-on technical and management assistance to86 rural health centers serving over two million Rwandans. In our infrastructure work, we work with local partners to build new model health centers and ensure that rural health centers have the fundamental components they need to function, including fully stocked pharmacies and consistent supplies of electricity and running water. In the last four years working with the Rwandan Ministry of Health and in conjunction with Rwanda Works, the Access Project has dramatically, quantitatively, and sustainably improved health care for two million Rwandans for about $5 per capita – a fraction of what larger NGOs spend to obtain similar results.
The Access Project is a key implementing partner of Rwanda Works (www.rwandaworks.com), which acts as a financing mechanism to implement our infrastructure projects.
