Subject - Last year they faced starvation - Learn how your donations contributed to a sustainable food security program in Kenya!

Dear Friend,

Last year around this time, I sent out an emergency email asking our donors to contribute toward buying seeds and fertilizer for the families we support in Kisumu, Kenya. I have just returned from Kenya and I am so excited to share with you what I saw and experienced - the results of your generosity have made such an impact on so many lives!

The situation last year was dire, as a widespread famine threatened starvation all over East Africa. Because of donors like you, we successfully raised enough money last year to provide seeds and fertilizer to EVERY family in our Kenya program!

During my recent visit to Kenya, I got to witness first hand the impact of your giving in the lives of children and their families. Those I met and spoke with were so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow their own food. They worked diligently to prepare their land, plant seeds, and grow crops that sustained them during a very dangerous famine. Many were able to grow and store enough food to sustain their families for an entire year!

Because of the incredible success we’ve seen by providing seeds and fertilizer to the families in our program, I’m coming to you again to ask you to please DONATE TODAY toward the purchase of more seeds and fertilizer this year. We have this amazing chance to provide a hand up, not a hand out, to parents of children with disabilities, who are so incredibly vulnerable to food insecurity.

We have a very short window of time to raise the $10,500 needed to provide seeds and fertilizer to each of the 250 families in our Kenya program. Each of these families is raising at least one child with a disability. For just $42 per family, you can help to provide maize (corn) and bean seeds as well as the fertilizer necessary to grow these vital crops. Will you please partner with us again to help families grow their own food and continue to provide for their children in a sustainable, cost effective way?

Because of the timing of the expected spring rains in Kenya, this need is URGENT. In order to provide seeds and fertilizer to every family, we need to raise $10,500 by February 15. We cannot do this without your help.

Will you please help us with this urgent need? DONATE TODAY to provide seeds and fertilizer to struggling families in Kenya. When you give, you are impacting the life of a child with special needs, as well as his or her family and extended family.

Thank you in advance, and as always, please feel free to reach out to me personally with any questions by replying to this email.

Gratefully,

Bob Klima, President CDFI

P.S. These families are not looking for handouts. They have gone ahead to do the hard work of tilling and preparing their land, and they’ve shown that they can be successful in growing their own food. Please donate today to provide seeds and fertilizer so they can continue to provide for their children.

P.P.S. We have a very short window of time to raise $10,500. Kenyans are soon expecting spring rains, which they call the “long rains,” and we have an amazing opportunity to help in a proven and sustainable way. Please DONATE TODAY.
