Hi Everyone! Most of you know I moved back to California in 2017 to pursue my master’s degree in Nursing Anesthesia at Loma Linda University. I have recently been given the amazing opportunity to travel to Honduras for a week and provide anesthesia to the patients of Hospital Adventista Valle de Angeles. Teaming up with the Ears, Nose and Throat Department, the Hondurans will have access to surgery that would not otherwise be possible.
As an ICU nurse and soon to be Nurse Anesthetist I take so much pride in providing safe and compassionate care to my patients, and I look forward to being able to bring this to the people of Honduras. If you are able to donate in anyway, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations will go towards the cost of the trip (flights, lodging, supplies, etc).
Thank you all very much!
Ali
A note about the program-
The LLU CRNA Program has teamed up with the LLUMC Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery to provide care for the people of Honduras. The facility, Hospital Adventista Valle de Angeles (HAVA), sits up in the mountains in a rural location where Hondurans often come for peace, tranquility, and healing.
The goal of the LLU CRNA program and the Department of ENT Surgery is simple... Go where God has led us and care for his people. The relationship with HAVA has richly blessed our CRNA students and ENT residents. This experience allows them to use the skills they are learning for a bigger purpose. The opportunity to care for people using less than the modern conveniences offered in the United States allows the students to be creative, adapt and learn to be resourceful.
Additionally, through the Global Health Institute (GHI) and Students for International Mission Service (SIMS), we are able to obtain necessary supplies and raise funds to support our efforts.
