I am really grateful for an opportunity to go to Haiti this year on a mission trip! At the beginning of this year, I made it a goal to go at least once a year to serve oversees. After prayerfully considering my choices, I decided to go with a team to Haiti, specifically to serve MamaBaby!
MamaBaby Haiti is a birth center located in the northern region of Vaudreuil, just west of Cap Haitian Haiti. With Haitian Women and babies facing the highest infant/maternal mortality rate in the western hemisphere, they are providing compassionate and respectful free maternity care at the hands of skilled Haitian Nurse Midwives. This issue is dear to my heart and I am jumping at an opportunity to partner with them in their much needed work!
As a team, we will be serving Haitian families by doing painting projects at the Birth Center. We will also be cleaning up the slums of Cap Haitian, putting metal roofs on some of the smaller homes, working with the local community on needed projects, and spending time with the orphans. Additionally, I am looking forward to providing my nursing skills to assist Haitian Nurse Midwives as needed in MamaBaby.
In Vaudreuil, Haiti as it is in Heaven!
