La Villa Esperanza is a home for at-risk, adolescent girls in Managua, Nicaragua. These girls face the threats of hunger, emotional distress and sexual attack. By providing for these girls emotionally, spiritually, physically and relationally, La Villa provides an opportunity for young women to break the cycle of generational poverty that they are often born into.

Hear the Cry partners with Forward Edge International to send short-term teams to Managua every year. The hope for La Villa is that Jesus would continue to radically impact these girls' lives, their families, the workers at La Villa, and the surrounding communities. Our teams get to partner with Jesus in this by working alongside La Villa’s workers and spending time with the girls daily.

Why I'm Going:
When I started attending Bridgetown Church, I remember first hearing about their mission trips to Nicaragua, and I was SO excited! Why, you ask? For several reasons:
1. I have a heart to serve vulnerable people in vulnerable spaces. I've always felt drawn to helping people, and I'm excited to bring all that I've learned over the years to this trip.

2. When I dream about the future, I've always imagined regularly visiting another country to bring my skills to help serve in whatever way I can. This will be my first opportunity to do just that!
3. I'm half Nicaraguan! I've also never been to Nicaragua, so to have my first experience be serving my people in the place where my mom was born, is an amazing opportunity in itself.
4. I've been on several mission trips before, but this will be my first in over 6 years and my first mission trip out of the country! I can't wait! :)

It's hard to say what I'm MOST looking forward to, because I have so many reasons to be excited for this trip. So, what I will say is that I feel very blessed to have an opportunity to love on these girls and see what God wants to do in this space!

What Does This Fundraiser Cover?:
Trip cost includes airfare, food, lodging, insurance, ground transportation, supplies and excursions.
